Celebrating our first wholesale account

We closed our very first wholesale account! That’s just a little over 2 months since going full-time on Teasan in July, and it feels crazy that somebody else’s business wants to give a shot at our teas. So early on, too.

Since I’m allowed to say who it is: it’s Matsu Matcha. They’re an ultra-premium matcha bar in Singapore, currently in Guoco Tower, with plans to expand to more locations soon. With matcha becoming more saturated and challenging to differentiate against competitors, they were looking to offer something totally different that no other drink shops have. I can attest that their drinks are *chef’s kiss*, and also all very caffeinated (until now!).

I met the founder Bryan at Boutiques in May, just a day after I got laid off from my job. I’d shared with him some early samples of teas I could potentially source – I hadn’t met with any producers at the time, so they were only conceptual samples. I kept in touch with him throughout this time, and a couple of “real” samples later, it turned into our first wholesale order. I hand-packed everything myself and took the MRT to deliver it, and at that moment, I felt my first little win as a small business owner.

But the job doesn’t end after the sale. We need to make sure that the teas actually make it into Matsu Matcha’s menus, and support them every way we can and hype up their launch, so their products do well and turn into repeat orders for Teasan. We’re gonna need all of your help to hype up their launch too, so we’ll keep you posted.
